In Hawke's Bay, the Regional Council has recently consented 900,000 tons
of water, per year, for export to China. That's 900,000,000 litres.
This at a time of water restrictions for ratepayers and very close to
irrigation bans for local horticulturalists. It would be laughable if it
were not true.
In New Zealand some areas are in drought.
